Electric vehicle powertrain systems installed inside the vehicle include the AC-DC onboard charger, the high-voltage DC-DC converter and traction inverter. EV powertrain designers are targeting to achieve small size, low weight and high power-density in order to enable longer driving range and lower overall vehicle cost.
Qorvo's fast switching, 650 V to 1700 V SiC FETs and diodes available in a broad range of on-resistance and current capabilities across multiple package styles are ideal for designing high-frequency powertrains. This is true regardless of whether the architecture involves 400 V or 800 V battery, uni-directional or bi-directional operation and single phase or 3-phase AC (alternating current) input supply. The ultra-low, sub-10 mohm on-resistance SiC FETs from Qorvo are particularly well suited for traction inverters.
